# 30-Minute vs 60-Minute Golf Lessons: Which Should I Choose?

Should you book a 30-minute or 60-minute golf lesson? A golf coach explains which length works best for beginners, juniors, and experienced golfers.

Both lesson lengths have a place. The right choice depends on where you are in your golf journey and what you're trying to accomplish that day. Here's a simple way to decide.

## Choose 60 minutes when…

**It's your first lesson.** A first session includes a conversation about your goals, an assessment of your swing and body, and your first fix. Thirty minutes just isn't enough to do that well.

**You're making a real swing change.** Changing your grip, your path, or how your body moves takes time. You need time to understand the change, try it with drills, and then take it into full swings. Rushing that process usually means the change doesn't stick.

**You're working on more than one area.** If you want to cover driver and wedges in the same visit, an hour gives you room.

**You're playing on the course.** On-course coaching, where we play holes together and talk through decisions, needs at least an hour.

## Choose 30 minutes when…

**You're checking in on something you've been practicing.** Once you're a few weeks into a program, a short session to confirm you're on track can be perfect.

**It's a focused short-game tune-up.** Putting stroke checks or a bunker refresher fit well into 30 minutes.

**You're coaching a young child.** Kids ages 4 to 7 often learn best in short, high-energy bursts. Our Little Linksters juniors thrive on that pace.

**You're squeezing in a lesson before work.** Consistency beats duration. A 30-minute lesson you actually make beats an hour you keep canceling.

## The cost per minute trap

Many golfers book 30-minute lessons to save money. That can backfire. A half hour often ends just as the change starts to click, so you leave without being able to repeat it on your own. Then you need another lesson to get back to where you were.

## What we recommend at Beyond Golf Performance

For most adult golfers, we recommend starting with full sessions inside a structured program. Our Phase One includes a TPI screen, three ball-striking sessions covering short and long game, and an on-course session. Once you have a solid foundation, shorter check-ins can be a great way to stay sharp.

The bigger factor isn't lesson length anyway. It's practice between lessons. Every BGP student leaves with a weekly practice plan so progress keeps happening when we're not there.

## Book the right lesson for you

Not sure which to choose? Tell us your goals when you book and we'll point you in the right direction. We coach golfers from Austin, Cedar Park, Leander, and Georgetown at Balcones Golf Academy.
