Golf lesson pricing in the Austin area varies a lot, and the price tag alone doesn't tell you much. Here's how to think about it as a buyer, and what you'll pay with us at Beyond Golf Performance.
Typical price ranges around Austin
Across Austin, Cedar Park, Leander, Georgetown, and Round Rock, you'll generally see a few tiers:
- Range assistants and part-time instructors: the lowest rates, usually with little structure or technology.
- Club and academy professionals: mid-range rates, often with launch monitors and video.
- Specialized performance coaches: higher rates, typically including body screening, data, and a long-term plan.
Group clinics and junior classes cost less per hour than private coaching because the coach's time is shared.
What actually drives the price
When you compare quotes, look at what's included:
- Technology. Does the coach use a launch monitor like TrackMan, or wrist sensors like HackMotion? Data lets a coach see what the eye can't.
- Body assessment. A TPI screen shows why your swing does what it does. Many instructors skip it.
- A plan. A single lesson with no follow-up is a tip. A program is coaching.
- Accountability. Practice plans, check-ins, and video review between sessions.
- Credentials. TPI certification and experience with players at your level.
What lessons cost at Beyond Golf Performance
We price around programs rather than one-off lessons, because that's what gets results. Our programs are built in phases. Each phase is five sessions and typically runs $750, which works out to about $150 per session. A phase includes coaching on the range and on the course, TPI-based body work, and a custom weekly practice plan.
Golfers who commit to the full 18-month series (eight phases, 40 sessions) get our best value. That program is designed to take 15 to 18 strokes off your game.
If you'd rather start with one session, a single one-hour lesson is $150. Juniors 12 and older pay $120, and juniors under 12 pay $80. Many golfers book that as a stand-alone tune-up or to work through one specific issue before committing to a phase.
Cheap lessons can cost more
A bargain lesson that gives you a quick fix often leads to a new problem three weeks later. Then you book another lesson, and another. Five disconnected lessons from five different instructors usually cost more than one structured phase, and they leave you more confused.
How to get the most for your money
- Commit to a block of sessions, not one.
- Practice what you're assigned between lessons.
- Ask how the coach measures progress.
- Make sure on-course coaching is part of the plan.
